Tasting Notes |
Appearance
Deep nearly opaque garnet core with mahogany hues leading to a ruby rim pushing a slight watery edge. Clear, brilliant lustre and luminosity with strong legs foreshadow full bodied wine. |
Nose
Big, bold first impression with nuances of black berries, bramble berries and sweet cassis complemented by whiffs of savoury braai-seared steak, herbs, cinnamon and vanilla. Hints of chocolate and espresso grinds allude to apt use of wood. Complex bouquet lingers nicely on nose. |
Taste
Mouth filling with soft, seductive tannins. Well-balanced acidity and well knit bone structure. Initial intensity of flavours contrast ripe black currants and cassis with plums and cool black cherries finessed by mid-palate nuances of sage and cloves with trailing undertones of vanilla, nutmeg and dark chocolate. Elegant, lingering farewell with hints of coffee and cinnamon in its smoky finish. |
